While beachfront accommodations are always nice, a gay colleague and are planning to escape Straightville for gay CHS one evening and will be looking for things to do, places to eat, etc. Recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Post Options. Apr 22, pm. Charleston is one of most gay friendly cities of its size in the South. There are plenty of fun things to do and see. For its size, Charleston exudes an uncommon amount of sophistication. You'll notice this immediately in the cities cultural, dining, and shopping attractions.

I mean, what other small Southern city has its own Gucci and Saks. I'd reccommend the restaurant Rue de Jean on John St. It has a fun, chic atmosphere. It serves everything from steak to sushi. And don't forget to have a mojito there And, they serve relatively late. If you are looking for nightlife, the cities two gay clubs are right around the corner on Ann Street.

Dudley's is a friendly pub which looks more like a Parisian bistro.
